SAIC wins $48 million from Naval Air Systems Command to provide engineering, technical services in support of air traffic control and landing systems

MCLEAN, Va., 27 Sept. 2012. Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC; NYSE:SAI) won a roughly $48 million prime contract from the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) to provide program management and engineering support services in support of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division's (NAWCAD) Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems (ATC&LS) Division.

The ATC&LS Division aids in positively identifying and tracking targets in combat and air traffic control environments through systems design, engineering, integration, installation, training, operational support, and in-service engineering for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and other U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) ATC&LS systems.

SAIC will provide technical and management support services to the ATC&LS Division to support its research, design, development, training, and logistic support tasking. SAIC will also provide technical support to ATC&LS programs through technology assessment; system engineering; system performance analyses; system test and evaluation support; system level procurement package development; training; local area network (LAN) support; and operational site maintenance.

"This is one of our longest running contracts in the Patuxent River area," admits Jim Thigpen, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "We look forward to continuing to work with ATC&LS to provide new technologies and services that will ultimately improve electronic systems in air traffic control and landing systems."

This single-award, cost-plus-fixed-fee (CPFF) task order has a one-year base period and two one-year options, as well as a total value of approximately $48 million, if all options are exercised.

Work on the contract will be performed at contractor facilities and NAWCAD in Patuxent River, Md.; St. Inigoes, Md.; and Jacksonville, Fla.
