Harris maintains U.S. Air Force Space Command worldwide satellite and communications network

WASHINGTON, 31 Dec. 2012. Harris Corp. (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, won the fifth option year of its Network and Space Operations and Maintenance (NSOM) contract to operate, maintain, and logistically support the U.S. Air Force Space Command's 50th Space Wing mission.

The one-year, $66 million option brings the overall value of the program to date to $351 million., The total potential value of the six-and-a-half year contract initially awarded in 2008 is $418 million.

Under the contract, the Harris team supports inbound and outbound data and communications with Department of Defense (DOD) satellites, delivering operations and maintenance support to the Air Force Satellite Control Network’s equipment at 10 worldwide locations.

The Harris team includes: ASRC Aerospace, Arctic Slope World Services, Avaya Government Solutions, Faith Enterprises Inc., Günther Douglas, and Lockheed Martin Information Technology.

Harris engineers design, deploy, operate, and maintain secure communications systems and information networks for some of the most complex, essential applications in the world for high-profile customers in government and commercial markets, says a spokesperson. The company provides systems and network integration, managed services, cyber security/information assurance, mobility, and cloud services.
