BOHEMIA, N.Y. – North Atlantic Industries Inc. in Bohemia, N.Y., is introducing the application-ready NRDC-3000 nano remote data concentrator for network-centric capable local host processing, I/O, communications, and utilities functions.
Created with and based on North Atlantic's Configurable Open Systems Architecture (COSA) and Nano Interface Units (NIU), the NRDC-3000 can help systems designers eliminate several boxes and hundreds of pounds of cable.
The NRDC-3000 is a preconfigured rugged system using a high-performance, low power Dual Core ARM Cortex-A9 processor with Xilinx PetaLinux OS, Wind River VxWorks 6.9 or DDC-I Deos support.
Using two smart function modules it supports avionics and data concentration applications that require high-density, multichannel, programmable communications.
It has eight programmable RS-232/422/485 serial channels, dual-channel dual-redundant MIL-STD-1553 BC, RT & MT, and eight ARINC 429/575 interface channels, individually programmable for either transmit or receive. All communication library Software Support Kits (SSKs) are supplied at no cost, including source code.
Measuring 7 by 3 by 2.5 inches, the NRDC-3000 weighs less than 3 pounds. This small, low-power unit delivers off-the-shelf solutions that accelerate deployment of size, weight, and power consumption (SWaP)-optimized systems quickly and with no nonrecurring engineering (NRE).
The NIU is designed to consolidate inputs from systems and sensors and distribute them via a dual channel 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet network in the smallest package available.
With COSA, smart function modules can be interchanged based on design requirements without affecting the design of the overall system, resulting in reduced design risk and streamlined development.
