Interconnect speeds essential in embedded mission computer designs, says Creative Electronic Systems
PHOENIX, 20 Jan. 2015. Interconnect speed is an important element in modern system designs, enabling “a fast network data pipe and getting faster,” according to a representative of Creative Electronic Systems (CES) in Switzerland. “PCI Express (PCIe) connections provide low latency, no overhead, and atomic operation,” he adds.
The CES spokesperson recommended a top-down design of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) mission computers. It is key, he says, to adopt a processing architecture to make systems customizable, modular, safety-critical, and scalable.
An optimal 3U-VPX COTS mission computer is:
- Full featured for command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) missions
- Prequalified for hard environmental conditions
- Optimized swap
- Certifiable for safety
- Future proof
