HIAWATHA, Iowa, 26 Feb. 2016. Engineers atRapid Imaging Software Inc. -- a provider of augmented-reality systems employed in manned and unmanned intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, wildlife research, and airport obstacle management in Albuquerque, New Mexico – sought a rugged embedded computer for the company’s LandForm+ mission management system. They found their solution at Crystal Group Inc., maker of rugged computers, displays, switches, and storage devices in Hiawatha, Iowa.

Rapid Imaging officials selected Crystal Group’s RE0412 rugged embedded computer to help deliver a high-reliability, low-maintenance software and hardware solution for moving map, sensor control, target manager, video recording, and augmented reality overlays.

"Our customers operate in challenging airborne conditions. We needed hardware that would integrate easily and operate reliably, and Crystal had the solution," describes Rapid Imaging Vice President of Operations David Geisler.

Crystal Group's RE0412 rugged embedded computer was selected for the project, customized to meet Rapid Imaging's engineering requirements, and private labeled with "Rapid Imaging Software" for the LandForm+ System. The system offers easy hardware integration, reliable hardware performance, easy-to-use interface, and enhanced situational awareness, officials say.

"Our superior size, weight, and power (SWaP) performance combined with an airworthy (DO160) compliant DC power supply in a 4.5-pound package makes this an excellent selection for Rapid Imaging Software Inc.," says Crystal Group Executive Vice President of Engineering Jim Shaw.
