ECHING, Germany, 2 March 2011. Kontron in Eching, Germany, is introducing the CP6003-SA 6U CompactPCICPU board based on the 2nd generation Intel Core i5/i7 mobile processor for military, aerospace, communications, industrial, medical, and monitoring embedded computing applications in which low power consumption and low heat dissipation are important considerations.Equipped with Quad-Core Intel Core i7-2715QE operating as fast as 2.10 GHz, the Kontron CP6003-SA (standard air-cooled) speeds vector operations for imaging and floating-point applications, and processes single-threaded tasks with the Intel Turbo Boost technology 2.0.This allows for a clock speed of as fast as 3.10 GHz without the need to oversize the entire system for peak loads. On the memory side, as much as 16 gigabytes of DDR3 1600 MHz (1333 MHz Dual-Core) ECC memory ensures data accuracy for safety-critical applications like radar, sonar or imaging systems. In addition to an on-board HDD or SDD, as much as 32 gigabytes of NAND Flash can be integrated via SATA interface.
Interfaces include 6x SATA ports with RAID 0/1/5/10 functionality for enhanced data security, 6x USB 2.0 ports, 2x RS232 ports, VGA, dual HDMI and High Definition Audio (HDA) interfaces as well as 5x Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. One of the six available SATA ports can be used for an onboard 2.5 inch SATA hard drive.
An XMC socket (via PCI Express x8) or PMC socket for mezzanine cards ensure plenty of room for customized expansions, like the dual 10 Gigabit Ethernet network interface card Kontron XMC401. The Kontron CP6003-SA can be used in both, a system or peripheral slot.
The Kontron CP6003-SA supports a configurable 64-bit/66 MHz PCI or PCI Express hot-swap CompactPCI interface. Software support includes Linux, VxWorks, Microsoft Windows 7, Windows Embedded Standard 7, Windows XP, XP embedded, or Windows Server 2008R2.
