ECHING, Germany, 25 May 2012. Kontron introduced the high-performance 3U CompactPCI processor board CP3003, based on the 3rd generation Intel Core processor technology. Kontron’s first Quad-Core 3U CompactPCI processor board provides customers with processing performance and 3D graphics performance. The Kontron CP3003 is suited for applications that require high computing performance in space-constrained environments, such as military embedded systems and aerospace applications.
The Kontron CP3003 comes with dual and quad-core CPU performance that is scalable up to the 2.1 GHz Intel Core i7-3612QE processor. Low voltage processors are available for applications requiring lower performance and heat dissipation.
The integrated DirectX 11, OpenGL 3.1 and OpenCL 1.1 capable Intel HD4000 graphics supports three independent displays. On two SODIMM sockets, the CP3003 features up to 16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz ECC-protected memory for data integrity and system stability. Up to 32 GB of SLC NAND Flash can be integrated to hold complete operating systems or application code as well, offering higher system speed and availability. The Kontron CP3003 is available as a single slot (4HP) or double slot version (8HP). The base board offers one VGA, two USB 2.0 and two Gigabit Ethernet ports on the front panel and further USB 2.0, COM (RS-232), and SATA 3Gb/s and 6Gb/s interfaces onboard or via the rear I/O connector. The Kontron CP3003-HDD extension module adds two DisplayPorts, one USB 3.0, one Gigabit Ethernet and one Serial port available on the front plus the option to hold a CFast module or up to two 2.5"HDD/SSD. An XMC carrier is offered as a second extension.
An optional Trusted Platform Module (TPM) offers encryption, verification and storage capabilities for security-sensitive applications. The implemented Wake on LAN (WoL) functionality enables the board to save energy when not in operation and to be woken up from a suspended state via remote connection. The CP3003 also provides a PCI 32-bit, 33 MHz (66 MHz also available) CompactPCI interface that supports the PCI passive mode feature. When installed in a system master slot, the CompactPCI interface is enabled, whereas the interface will be isolated when installed in a peripheral slot.
The Kontron CP3003 works with several operating systems, including Linux, Microsoft Windows 7, Windows Embedded Standard 7, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 and VxWorks.
Integrated board support packages are offered to support all onboard hardware devices.
Full production of the Kontron 3U CompactPCI processor board CP3003 is scheduled for the third quarter of 2012. For availability, contact Kontron here for more details.
