Solid-state power amplifier for EW, avionics, and radar introduced by Comtech PST

MELVILLE, N.Y., 13 Aug. 2015. Comtech PST Corp. in Melville, N.Y., is introducing the model BME1929-300 solid-state power amplifier module for avionics, communications, electronic warfare (EW), and radar transmitter systems where space, cooling, and power are limited.

The model BME1929-300 RF and microwave power amplifier expands on the company's integrated RF GaN power amplifier designs by further increasing the RF power density, while improving overall operating efficiency.

Applications for these devices include mobile or fixed-site ground, surface ships, and aircraft.

The amplifiers operate at frequencies from 1000 to 2000 MHz; offer 300 Watts RF power output at 50 ohms; saturated power output (Psat) of 25 Watts; RF input range of -15 to -5dBm; RF input overdrive of 10 dBm maximum; maximum voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 2.0:1; and composite fault indication built in test.

The devices are 25 percent efficient from DC to RF; operate in temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius; are tested to MIL-STD-810F for shock and vibration; and weigh 14.5 pounds.
