LAS VEGAS, 22 Oct. 2013. Officials at Latitude Technologies, a supplier of flight data monitoring, flight following, and satellite communications (SatCom) solutions for regional fleet operators, announced at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) convention in Las Vegas this week that the company has begun the certification process of its Future Air Navigation System (FANS) data link transceiver for real-time SatCom transmission of FANS 1/A+ safety services data over the Iridium satellite network.
FANS-based “smart” routing enables FANS-compliant aircraft to achieve decreased flight times and decreased fuel consumption.
Latitude’s FANS data link unit also will assist long-range business jets and transoceanic fleet operators in more easily qualifying their aircraft as FANS compliant and gain access to dynamic route planning and en route flight path optimization available to aircraft with FANS on-board, officials say.
“At Latitude, we pride ourselves at always being in the lead bringing to market new technologies developed specifically to help our customers to fly more efficiently, more safely, and more cost effectively,” says Latitude President Mark Insley, at NBAA. “FANS-equipped commercial and executive jets are the way of the future and Latitude is very pleased to add FANS to our broad range of FDM, AFF, and SatCom products.”
