Chairing the workshop is Vincent De Vroey, general manager technical and operations, Association of European Airlines. The speakers are Lufthansa's Manfred Mohr, head of Project SESAR/Representative of the COO; Gilles Compagnion of Air France; Mario Araujo, director of engineering, TAP Engineering and Maintenance, TAP Portugal; and a representative from the SESAR Joint Undertaking.

The Association of European Airlines brings together 35 major airlines, and has been the voice of the European airline industry for more than 50 years.

"Future avionics plays a key role for the airlines development in order to make air travel a safer place in an increasingly busy sky," De Vroey says. "The AEA are pleased to be supporting Avionics & Defence Electronics Europe and will be hosting a workshop on SESAR from the airlines perspective in order to provide information about the developments on the project and what it will mean to the industry."

Session topics for Avionics Europe are Single European Sky (SES) and Future Avionics Systems; Current ATM/Avionics Realities; Making the Business Case for Integrating New Avionics into Airplanes -- with panelists will include representatives from KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Rockwell Collins, and Honeywell Aerospace; Avionics Market and Traffic Forecasts, Helicopter Avionics Modernization; and EFBs (electronic flight bags) and Avionics Systems Certification Challenges.
