WEYBRIDGE, England, 21 June 2012. TT electronics PLC in Weybridge, England, is introducing mil-spec high-speed RJ45 and USB connector systems for applications in battlefield communication systems, radar, surveillance systems in fighting vehicles, missile systems, and naval applications.

The mil-spec connectors offer data rates as fast as 10 gigabits per second for applications in harsh industrial and military environments, and incorporate ABAC (MILDTL-38999 series III) or AB05 (MIL-DTL-26482) derived metal shells with 360 degree EMC and mechanical protection. Other applications for these interconnection products include robotics, motion control, process control, oil and gas, railways, mass transit, CNC machines, highway indicators, and outdoor signage systems (story continues below).

The rugged connectors provide environmental sealing, enhanced mechanical protection, and EMC performance. All-metal housings enable operation in temperatures from -40 to 120 degrees Celsius.

The AB05 R6 bayonet connectors are matched to the AB05 housing, and move data as fast as 1 gigabit per second for CAT6e structured cabling in 10 BASE-T, 100 BASE-TX, and 1000 BASE-T networks. Receptacles come in square or jam nut formats and Type 60 cable plugs and protective caps.

These bayonet-coupling connectors offer audible snap and visual indicators, 100N retention of the RJ45 in the plug, and operation over a minimum of 500 mating cycles. Shock and vibration resistant, the connectors also are sealed to IP68 against fluid and dust ingress, or equivalent to two hours immersion at a depth of one meter.

The metallic shells are based on MIL-DTL-38999 III and provide dependable three-start threaded coupling with anti-vibration ratchets and visual indicators. With several insert orientations, the connectors can be mated and interchanged with connectors from other manufacturers including Amphenol RJFTV.

TT electronics is also introducing a threaded connector for USB 1.0 and 2.0 transmissions. ABAC UA connectors are supplied with a high performance USB 2.0 cord set, which is matched to the ABAC housing to guarantee the highest mechanical, environmental and electrical performance. Data rates are as fast as 480 megabits per second.
