FAREHAM, England, 28 Jan. 2011. Meggitt wins avionics, wheels, and brake controls systems contracts from BAE Systems on the Indian Advanced Hawk Jet Trainer program.
Meggitt Avionics in Fareham, England will supply a range of cockpit display equipment and electro-mechanical instruments. The pressure gauges, pressure transducers, accelerometers, cabin altimeters, hydraulic pressure indicators, and altitude pressure switches will be manufactured by Meggitt Avionics 2012 through 2014.
Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems (MABS) Corp. will supply the nose and main wheels, brakes and brake control systems plus spares. This contract extends the partnership between BAE and MABS, supplying more than 640 aircraft with Meggitt's braking systems since the beginning of the program.
These contract wins follow India's purchase of 57 BAE Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer Aircraft in July 2010, to be built under license by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd in India. Forty aircraft have been assigned to the Indian Air Force and the remaining 17 will be operated by the Indian Navy.
Meggitt Avionics is in the final stages of transferring the technology needed to enable its equipment to be supported and repaired in India, signaling a further strengthening of its ties with the Indian Hawk program.
