SAO JOSE DOS CAMPOS, Brazil, 18 March 2012. Aircraft manufacturer Embraer in São José Dos Campos, Brazil, has received type certification from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India for the Embraer large-sized Legacy 650 business jet, which enables aircraft operators to register and operate the business aviation aircraft in India. The Legacy 650 is the sixth Embraer executive jet to be certified in India, company officials say.
The Legacy 650, Embraer's largest business jet for the general aviation market, can seat as many as 14 passengers, has a top speed of 480 knots, and has a range as long as 3,900 nautical miles. The aircraft is 87 feet long and has a wingspan of 70 feet. Embraer made the announcement last week at the India Aviation 2012 trade show in Hyderabad, India.
With the Legacy 650 certification, all of Embraer’s executive jets in production today -- the entry-level Phenom 100, light Phenom 300, super-mid-size Legacy 600, large Legacy 650 and ultra-large Lineage 1000 -- are certified in India.
The 2012 version of the Legacy 650 new avionics that revolve around the Honeywell Primus Elite avionics suite to enable the aircraft to adapt to changing air traffic control systems. The aircraft also has the FANS 1/A CPDLC, RNP 0.3 WAAS/LPV and coupled VNAV for optimizing airspace use, flight time, and lowering fuel burn.
The latest-model Legacy 650 also has a high-definition in flight entertainment system, a Honeywell Ovation Select, all-digital, cabin management system, an 8.9-inch touchscreen passenger control monitor in the galleys, and individual touch-screen controls.
