SALT LAKE CITY, 31 Jan. 2012. Parvus Corp. in Salt Lake City is introducing the DuraNET 4948 ruggedized Cisco Systems Catalyst 4948E data center switch for demanding military and civil IP networking technology refresh programs and command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) applications in military ground vehicles, aircraft, surface ships, and submarines.

The ruggedized Cisco Ethernet switch for avionics and vetronics has 48 downlink and four uplink Gigabit Ethernet ports in a hardened 2U chassis that meets MIL-STD-810G environmental and MIL-STD-461F EMI requirements. This multilayer switch comes in a ruggedized 19-inch rack. This rugged commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product is designed to deploy Cisco hardware for data and multimedia services in wide thermal, shock, vibration, altitude, and humidity conditions.

The DuraNET 4948 integrates redundant aircraft-grade power supplies, internal heaters, enhanced heat sinks, and upgraded cooling fans with front-to-back chassis air flow. The DuraNET 4948 comes with rugged MIL-38999 connector interfaces.
