DUSSELDORF, Germany, 31 May 2012. Jet Aviation Dusseldorf, an aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) specialist based in Dusseldorf, Germany, has begun converting 14-passenger Embraer Legacy 600 business jets to medical evacuation (medevac) aircraft.
Jet Aviation Dusseldorf technicians converted an Embraer Legacy 600 to serve as a medevac aircraft with four-patient stretcher systems, as well as a VIP charter aircraft accommodating as many as 14 passengers. The switch from medevac to VIP configurations takes one business day, company officials say.
The medevac conversion is supported by the company’s EASA-approved Part-21 organization. Jet Aviation Dusseldorf is an accredited center of excellence for Embraer aircraft.
The Legacy 600 small-to-mid-sized business jet has a range of 3,900 nautical miles, flies at altitudes as high as 41,000 feet and at speeds as fast as 610 miles per hour. The jet can seat as many as 13 passengers, takes off on runways as short as 5,741 feet, is 87 feet long and has a 69-foot wingspan.
The Legacy 600 business jet has the Honeywell Primus Elite avionics suite enables pilots to go from power-up to engine start in 10 minutes, with features such as VNAV, RNP, LPV WAAS, Honeywell SmartRunway and SmartLanding RAAS. Charts, maps, and satellite weather are on cockpit liquid crystal displays to reduce pilot workload.
Jet Aviation Dusseldorf offers MRO, avionics, refurbishment, FBO, and 24-hour aircraft-on-ground (AOG) services. It is an authorized service center for the Cessna Citation series, Hawker Beechcraft Premier I, Hawker 400XP and 800XP, the Embraer Legacy ERJ 135BJ as well as for the Piaggio Avanti. The company also does maintenance on Learjet, Challenger and Gulfstream aircraft.
Jet Aviation Dusseldorf holds EASA #DE.145.0011 and FAA #J7QY399Y repair station approvals. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics Corp., has nearly 5,000 employees, and operates 25 airport facilities throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North and South America.
