Roughly 50 international speakers imparted valuable information about pressing avionics issues, a majority of which concerned the need for efficient air traffic management. Under the theme Common Sky: Operating in One Air Space, the Avionics Europe 2012 conference focused on the current and future cockpit avionics and technologies for commercial, civil and military aircraft and design approaches to grow air traffic in the most safe and efficient ways possible. SESAR and NextGen took center stage at the event, with a focus on how to make the skies safer and more efficient given the increasing number of commercial and military aircraft sharing the same airspace.
Preparations are already underway on next year’s Avionics Europe, the premier avionics conference and exhibition. The international avionics community will reconvene in Munich in Feb. 2013 to discuss current and future challenges facing the aerospace industry.
Leading industry organizations—including the Association of European Airlines, SESAR Joint Undertaking, EUROCAE, the German Aerospace Society, and the Royal Aeronautical Society—hosted a series of special forums focussing on issues within the industry that impact the work and business of avionics professionals and the industry at large.
A series of Technical Workshops during the two-day event provided an in-depth look into the more technical aspects of the avionics industry.
The Avionics Europe exhibition floor was filled with the latest avionics technologies and innovations from roughly 60 leading international high-tech companies.
Avionics Europe is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The Bavarian State Government represented by Katja Hessel, Deputy Minister in the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology delivered a welcome speech during an evening reception on the exhibition floor.
“We are delighted to be so welcomed by the Bavarian State Government and the industry in Munich for the 10th anniversary of Avionics Europe,” says Ernesto Burden, event director for Avionics Europe. “The support from bavAIRia, the Association of European Airlines, SESAR, EUROCAE, DGLR, and Royal Aeronautical Society has been excellent.” Burden also thanked the event’s Gold sponsors, Airbus and Cassidian, for their support, “as well as the many other key individuals, who have put a great deal of work and effort into making this year’s event a success."
