OTTOBRUNN, Germany – Panasonic Industry Europe GmbH in Ottobrunn, Germany, is introducing the PAN1740A Bluetooth module for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications like connected sensors, human machine interfaces, smart homes and buildings, metering applications, and remote controls.

The PAN1740A offers a quicker boot time than its predecessors, and supports as many as eight connections. It can function as a standalone application processor or as a data pump in hosted systems.

The Bluetooth module is optimized for remote control units (RCU) requiring support for voice commands and motion/gesture recognition.

The Bluetooth low-energy firmware includes the L2CAP service layer protocols, Security Manager (SM), Attribute Protocol (ATT), the Generic Attribute Profile (GATT) and the Generic Access Profile (GAP). All profiles published by the Bluetooth SIG as well as custom profiles are supported.

The module measures 9 by 9.5 by 1.8 millimeters, and features a Dialog DA14585 board and a ARM Cortex-M0 microcontroller. The operating temperature range is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, and the supply voltage range is 2.2 to 3.3 volts.
