Republic of Korea selects IAI Heron unmanned aircraft for Army project

SEOUL, Korea, 8 Jan. 2015. The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) of the Republic of Korea has selected Israel Aerospace Industries’ (IAI) Heron unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), also commonly called drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), for a corps-level UAV upgrade project.

SEOUL, Korea, 8 Jan. 2015. The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) of the Republic of Korea has selected Israel Aerospace Industries’ (IAI) Heron unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), also commonly called drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), for a corps-level UAV upgrade project.

“We comprehensively evaluated price, capability, operational suitability, T&C and selected the equipment that has a higher score,” a DAPA official explains.

“We appreciate DAPA and the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) for selecting IAI, via a thorough evaluation process which set a high level of requirements, allowing the Heron to demonstrate its outstanding performance, innovative features, mission versatility, and proven, advanced operational capabilities,” an IAI spokesperson says.
